It’s Friday y’all!  I’m so excited to help you jumpstart your weekend. Today is movie night! So, prepare to break out the popcorn. 🙂  First off, let me just say, that I think every weekend you should schedule time for an activity, so the family has something to look forward to.  It creates excitement in the kids, & for you too! (It also helps as an incentive for the kids to behave during the week as well 🙂 )  Each week day will go by just a little more smoothly when you have something enjoyable coming up.  So, no worries, I’ll also be here to assist every Friday, so, let’s get to it!

There are a lot of great movies out right now. And, if the kids have started back to school this week, they will be extra amped to get out & shake off some of the ‘first week of school blues’ 🙂  So, what’s playing right now?  Let’s explore.

Now, I’ll start with the new releases, but some movies have been out for several weeks or more…so, I’ll still list them in case some of you haven’t seen them yet. You can also have just as much fun staying in & renting a movie if it’s no longer at the theaters, just dim the lights for the perfect movie ambiance…& voila!

Movie: Kubo & the Two Strings (PG)

Kubo and the Two Strings showtimes and tickets  Family dynamics can be complicated.  Adapted from Japanese folklore, a 12-year-old boy leaves his goddess mother on a quest seeking his heroic destiny, armed with a musical instrument that magically serves as a weapon. The only one who can stand in his way? The vengeful Moon King, better known to Kubo as “Grandpa.” In theaters August 19.

Movie:  Pete’s Dragon (PG)

Pete's Dragon showtimes and tickets  Who is to say that imaginary friends aren’t real? The thing is, there’s one old man who believes him.  In theaters August 12

Movie:  Ice Age: Collision Course (PG)

Star Wars. Star Trek. Star Scrat. The sabre-tooth squirrel mistakenly goes to space where, per usual, he causes an Earth-altering catastrophe. This time, it’s a huge asteroid heading straight for Earth. The good news? Jungle adventurer and lovable lunatic Buck is back!       In theaters July 22.

For the adults with older kids…I have a couple of options for you too 🙂

When fate brings the estranged brothers to an epic and deadly chariot race, Ben-Hur finally gets the chance to exact vengeance on the man who destroyed his life. In theaters Aug 19th

Movie:  Star Trek: Beyond  (PG-13)
