How many followers does HE have? How many comments does SHE have? He got WHAT award? Wait a minute…She married WHO?
Good Grief! I realize in this day & age of Facebook, Twitter, & yes even on this platform of WordPress….that this way of thinking may be quite difficult to avoid. People seem to showcase what appears to be, their perfect careers, & their perfect little lives…but actually, I can relate.
When I first started out on this platform just a couple of years ago, I really didn’t know what to expect. This online stuff was totally new to me, so I wasn’t sure what exactly was the “norm” as far as creating content & obtaining followers…etc. I would see people who set up sites & blogs months after me, that had hundreds of followers in a week, or over a thousand followers in just 2 mos! I always enjoyed writing, & inspiring others, so I assumed that I must not be doing something right, per my blog didn’t take off quite as quickly.
I also had a lot more time on my hands in the beginning to blog more, interact, & visit more. So it was kinda easy to get caught up in the rat-race of obtaining more followers, more likes, more blah, blah, blah. (Sigh)…But you know what? It became exhausting!
So, HOW do we combat this?
Not in an overbearing or conceited way, just more of a prioritizing way. We should resolve to focus more on what OUR message is to the world & what WE want to accomplish individually…& not everyone else’s two cents! Focus more on the things we enjoy doing, like cycling, going out, cooking, music, or whatever it may be.
I know certain things may not be to our liking, but there has to be SOMETHING in our lives, or perhaps SOMEONE that we can look back & say we can appreciate & are thankful for. Favor we were given through a friend, family member, neighbor….etc. It can really help us to stay centered & to keep things in perspective.
You know, sometimes we just have to accept the fact, that we will never be as fast as Suzy, or as tall as Jack, or as savvy as….whoever. BUT…we can work on being our BEST selves. Ok, some of us may never be a size 4, but we CAN work on losing a few pounds, if that is what is really desired. We may not have the BMW yet, but we can still roll in that Ford Escort. We can still rock that hairstyle, or wear that outfit without a high-end designer’s name on our clothes to affirm that we look good! Come on somebody!
Due to time constraints, I haven’t been able to post as much this year. My schedule has changed drastically, & I simply just don’t have as much time to devote to my blog like I used to, & my weekly visitors have dropped dramatically as a result, but hey…OH, WELL!
And now…I could really care less! Per, I’ve gone back to the basics of doing what I’ve always loved to do…which is simply Write.
I may not have the most impressive this, or the best of that, like some others, BUT… it’s good enough for ME, & that’s ENOUGH! And always remember…SO ARE YOU! 😊 ❤️
If I’m not careful, I can sometimes be very selfish. So, I have to intentionally check myself when I’m faced with certain challenges or situations that I may not want to deal with, or just want to drop the ball onto someone else. I have to put myself in the other person’s shoes & consider the results. I’m sure many of you can relate! So, what do we do?
Lets make the decision to live the good life by living with good intentions, & to do things with a pure heart. Not just for ourselves, but for our families, our friends, & our neighbors. Not ONLY because it’s Valentine’s this week, or just ON Valentine’s Day, but because we choose to…Everyday!😊

So, my wish for you today is…. Practice excellence!
Practice doing things correctly & efficiently. Don’t settle for just doing things half-way, or sub-par. When you’re at home, at work…remember the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Every situation that you handle with the utmost care & respect, will lead you that much closer to where you desire to be. 😊

Mother’s Day is over…now it’s Dad’s turn! Woo-Hoo! Ok, now we know that no two Dads are the same, but I’ve come across a few ideas & gadgets that I think most Dads will give the ‘Thumbs Up’ 🙂
1) Helping Dad Organize
Do you remember that pile of tools & stuff that’s all over the garage or shed out back? You know what I’m talking about… 😉 You can purchase some great shelving & storage containers at your local Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Sears store…etc. Get the kids involved. Everyone can pitch in to help dad’s work space look like a true, Handy-Man Professional! Get a new tool set to go in the organized space, if he doesn’t have one or if the old ones are shot. Even if he did attach the handlebars on your bike backwards…it’s worth the effort 🙂
2) I Feel The Need, For Speed!
Whoa! Look at this baby right here…Need I say more? Please, guys…do NOT break the computer screen in attempt to grab this mower 🙂 I am sure you will have NO problem getting dad to mow the lawn with this cool ride! Again, you can shop around for one similar at your local Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Okay, Ok…to be fair, SOME guys are not really into the mower thing…& maybe this would be a bit much for some dads…no worries. You can hire a lawn service company for the month (or for just a few weeks), to give dad a break…or, you can just get the kid next door 😉
3) Stylin’ Dad
How about taking dad to the mall? Or, to his favorite sports store to get his favorite jersey? I know we’re all familiar with the typical “tie” as a traditional Father’s Day gift, but it’s time to help dad spruce up! Don’t just get the tie; get him a nice shirt or a sports jacket to go with it. And, if you really want to go all out, an entire outfit! If you chose casual wear, how about throwing in a nice new set of golf clubs too! Now, if things are tight, you can always improvise & just get one simple item that you think dad would appreciate, like a new sports watch, pair of shoes…etc. Or, you can just get him the tie 😉
4) Fit For A King
There are always other, more practical ways you can express to dad, just how loved he is. For instance, you can prepare his favorite dishes & sweets. For meat eaters…let the pigs fly! Fire up the grill, better yet, let HIM fire up the grill, (most dads prefer that 🙂 ) If you don’t have one, buy him a new grill! Take him out to his favorite restaurant or sports event, (if you planned ahead of time) to a show or movie of his choice. Or, simply just let him watch the game on TV, spend the day fishing, or, just NAP ALL DAY long. NO, To-Do-List, NO, mediating between the kids, just a day of peace & rest, allowing him to just…BE. Now, that’s relaxing 😊
5) Keep It Simple
For some families, most of the suggestions above may not be feasible. Ok, I got it covered. Give him you! Yes, ALL of you make possible the awesome day we celebrate Dads to begin with! So make the cards/gifts out of paper if you prefer…& the tie. 🙂 All of the fancy grills, tools & gadgets in the world, CANNOT compare to the Hugs, Kisses, Respect & LOVE that only a Family can give.
